ELLIE GOULDING - “LIGHTS” (MESSED REMIX) [170bpm]
Friday is always the best day for Drum and Bass. Today we have UK DJs Mest & Shock who have collaborated to form Messed. They’ve taken Ellie Goulding’s stunner dance hit and thrown it into the depths of the underground at a whopping 170bpm.
Ellie’s voice seems to beg for remixes, as seen throughout her career for nearly every song she’s created. Take a listen below to the more dubbed-out version (WiredRemix), the chilled-out version (Caizzz Remix), and the original.
And to all producers: please keep ‘em coming.

Efterklang - “Alike”
The time is right, when the mission fails // The calming voice that kept me safe // It may be stupid, but it is true
The flood is gone and the trouble stays // The car was slow, but it took us far away // It may be stupid, but it is true
And it made us feel alike
The days are gone and the game was fun // The path was wrong, but it gave us hope // The more we found, the more we grew // Upon the truth, upon the truth
And it made us feel alike
Can someone please screen AN ISLAND in Los Angeles?!
French filmmaker Vincent Moon + Efterklang!!! My heart is overjoyed ♥

Cocoon - “Chupee”
I have no idea what a “chupee” is nor do I like that he has a dead rodent on his head in this video. BUT I love the little animated critters and simple joyful melody…so this is my sunday song on repeat. Have you seen the film L’arnacoeur aka Heartbreaker? Well maybe you should. Yes, this song “chupee” is in this film; plus, the film is just as cheesy and cute. Really, what the fuck is a “chupee?” Please, someone enlighten me.

Penny and the Quarters - “You and Me” (Blue Valentine Soundtrack)
I can’t get this song out of my head and I’m okay with that. Do I want to see the film Blue Valentine again? Not really, no. Please don’t make me. Do I think it was a great film? Absolutely.
I went to see Blue Valentine not knowing anything about the plot, except for the sweet (misleading) trailer. I had a feeling that I should probably watch this film alone and I did. I didn’t cry during the movie at all but as soon as I got in my car and drove out of the parking lot, the tears just started falling down uncontrollably.
As I was watching this film I couldn’t help but feel like I was watching my last relationship on the screen. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling have a sincere chemistry that feels so real, raw, honest and naked (pun intended heheh); wow. It felt very real when they fell in love and it felt very real when they fell out of love.
This is not a feel good film for couples. This is not the Notebook, sorry kiddies and old people who are not from my generation. And if you are close to my age but have never been in a relationship where both you and your partner jumped blindly and passionately in love, only to have it collapse painfully and tragically…I don’t think you will be able to relate either. You will probably look at this couple and assume they are both stupid for getting into a relationship that was doomed from the start but perhaps maybe you will still be able to appreciate the exceptional acting in this film. However, you won’t be able to examine it or feel the same way that I did…it’s your own experiences and emotions that will make this film great or not. It’s like a millions times heavier than (500) Days of Summer (film that I love).
Again, I’m warning you…this is NOT a feel good romantic movie.
Beth Rowley - “You’ve Got Me Wrapped Around Your Little Finger (Soundtrack for An Education)”
A great film, a good soundtrack…this song is like honey…I can’t help but sing along as smooth and sweet as I possibly can…because it’s so sticky; it’s stickin’ to me ♥.
